People, photographs and practical lessons
From the camera roll to the classroom
I co-founded BlitzMetrics. This collection brings together photos from Dennis Yu’s camera roll and the personal-branding lessons I taught with Dennis for Stukent.
Start with the people, then follow the work: office conversations, preparation around a studio table, and lessons you can put into practice. I’ve also included my Stukent session with Ben Dahl on testing advertising content, so you can move from the photo archive to the ideas behind the work.

Teaching personal branding with Dennis Yu

Dennis and I appeared together in Stukent’s Personal Branding Examples session as co-founders of BlitzMetrics. We shared experiences from our own paths and discussed how college students could begin developing a personal brand. The session connects personal experience, social media and the work of becoming known for something useful.
There is a practical reason to keep a lesson beside a photo collection: you can meet the people in the work and then hear them explain it. Watch the session with one question in mind: what experience could you explain clearly enough to help someone else? A useful starting point is one subject, one example and one takeaway.
Then give that example a home. A photo, a short recording and a clear link make it easier for the next person to follow your work. This collection uses that structure: each original frame still opens on its own page, and the teaching sessions sit alongside the photographs.
Testing advertising content with Ben Dahl
Published by Stukent on October 4, 2018. Visit the original Stukent session.
Ben Dahl and I taught Stukent’s How to Begin a Dollar-a-Day Facebook Ad Strategy session. Stukent introduced Ben as BlitzMetrics’ director of content and me as a co-founder. Together, we explained the thinking behind the approach: use small experiments to learn which kinds of posts connect with an audience.
That is a different part of the story from taking a photograph. First comes the material; then comes the question you want to test. A useful exercise is to select one piece of content and write down its intended audience, the idea it communicates and the response you want to observe. Those choices make it easier to compare what happened with what you expected.
The original session is here so you can hear Ben and me explain the approach together. It pairs naturally with the personal-branding session: one helps you decide what you want to communicate, and the other shows how to think about testing the content you create.
The preparation around the studio table

The studio-table frame brings the collection back to a quieter setting. Printed notes are spread across the table, lighting equipment is set up nearby, and water and doughnuts sit within reach. It is a useful view of the practical materials surrounding a recording, not just the finished image a viewer sees.
When you prepare a recording, put the main idea on a page before you reach for the camera. Choose the question you want to answer and the example that will make it concrete. Keep a few photographs of the setup, too. A photo collection can show the preparation as well as the result.
The companion Listening on set frame offers another view at the table. Both remain in the original archive below, along with the office photographs.
